Pajamas & Biscuits
With the arrival of our new little babe, we've been lingering in our pjs a little longer in the mornings since it takes more time to get everyone taken care of and I kind of love the routine we've created. I think a nice matching pajama set is an essential item, especially after bringing my babies home from the hospital because you want to be in something comfy all day long that still looks decent if people come over and has easy access for breastfeeding. These Bedhead pajamas do just the trick. I've always been drawn to the great quality of their pjs and the cute patterns that they come in, so it's really fun that they offer a kids collection too! Capri loves breakfast time so much and when her dad doesn't have to rush off to work in the mornings we love cooking up something delicious that we can all enjoy. Breakfast has a lot of favorite home cooked meals for both of us of things that our parents used to make growing up and one of them is the baking powder biscuits that Adam's mom makes. They are perfectly soft and just kind of melt in your mouth. And although we can never make them as good as her, they are still a delicious treat to have in the morning with fresh butter and honey or homemade raspberry jam. Sometimes it's just nice to relax in your pjs and enjoy a good breakfast without having to feel like you have anywhere to rush off to. Weekends were made for days like this.
BAKING POWDER BISCUITS
makes about 10 biscuits
| INGREDIENTS |
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup milk
| DIRECTIONS |
Mix the flour, salt, baking powder, and cream of tartar together in a large bowl. Then cut in the butter and mix with a pastry cutter. Once all the ingredients are mixed well, create a well in the middle of the bowl with a fork to pour the milk into. Add the milk and stir ingredients together with a fork. Sprinkle your counter with flour and lay out the dough. Mold the dough with your hands to be flattened out about 1" thick. Cut circle shapes in the dough with a biscuit cutter and place circles on a cooking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 375 degrees F for about 8 min. [note: depending on your oven, they may not brown after 8 min but they are still cooked inside so remove them from oven.]
