How to Style Your Console Table

How to Style Your Console Table

I’ve always loved the look of console tables because it gives you just one more space to decorate and create a pretty design moment whether it’s right at the entry when you first walk in or behind a sofa as you enter the living room. I always love creating this moment for my clients and especially when I get to work with the floorpans I’m always thinking about how the furniture will look. This past year I was finally able to get one to put behind our sofa and I can’t believe how much it adds to the room. The lamps sitting on top of our console table completely ground the space and make our living room feel so much more put together. Also the baskets underneath have become the perfect shoe storage that we desperately needed by our small entryway. I know it seems like you don’t have space to put a table if you don’t have a large entrance, but there are other areas in the home to create this area and make it work for you. We have a very small entrance to our home so I don’t have a wall where I could put a table underneath art or a mirror so my living room was the best spot. You can still create great design in small living spaces and I’ve gathered up some of my tips for you to do just that. I have linked all of my favorite items to get the look as well. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll do my best to help.

EASY TIPS TO STYLE YOUR CONSOLE TABLE

1 | START WITH A CONSOLE TABLE THAT FITS YOUR SPACE [make sure it’s long enough for the space it’s going and not too deep for the walkway]

2 | FOR A SHORT TABLE USE ONE LAMP ON THE SIDE AND FOR A LONGER TABLE PLACE TWO LAMPS ON EACH END

3 | HANG A MIRROR OR ART WORK BEHIND THE TABLE IF IT’S UP AGAINST A WALL

4 | USE BASKETS TO FILL IN THE SPACE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TABLE [this also gives great storage for throw blankets or shoes or whatever you need to keep the space clean]

5 | ADD ACCESSORIES TO FILL IN THE SPACE [use books to stack on the shelves or underneath picture frames, trays to keep everything on or decorative boxes to fill in the space]

6 | USE GREENERY FOR THE FINISHING TOUCH [flowers or branches in vases are the perfect item to finish off your table. If you need more height then I would put branches in a taller vase but if you have two lamps on each side then I would do a smaller flower arrangement in a short vase or pot.]
