A Simply Spooky Halloween Party
Happy Halloween! It's been a tradition in my family to have cornbread and chili on Halloween by either my mom making it or my aunt at her annual party, so since we have been living away from everyone, we've tried to keep the tradition alive. Our first Halloween here in California, we had a chili cook off with our church and I won third place [I think this chili is a first place taste, but that's just me] and then the other couple of years we've had parties with friends. I hosted the party last year and it looked pretty similar to this. I try to keep things simple for Halloween because first off, I don't like a lot of the tacky decorations I've typically seen around so I don't buy that many. I always try to reuse lots of things I already have that work for lots of different occasions, then just build from there. Besides the cornbread and chili, we also love to make homemade Hires root beer in a cauldron and it looks super festive with the dry ice, plus it even makes delicious root beer freezes after. It's fun having a new tradition that is something we will carry on with our own little family. Hope you all have a great night trick or treating and watching scary movies!
